WHO WE ARE

Casasola is a dynamic project that seeks to integrate personal and community knowledge, creativity, art, and introspection as a call to generate processes of formation, creation, and continuous and collective learning, fostering the expression of popular cultural knowledge. Thus, we seek to build, through Feminist Popular Education and self-management, tools that allow women, adolescents, and girls to influence our lives, defend our human rights, and rebuild the community fabric.

OUR CONTEXT

We live in a context of violence against women that functions as a tool of control and sustains unequal power relations. Therefore, it is urgent for us to acknowledge the history of unjust and oppressive actions that women face every day, recognize the struggles for autonomy and decision-making over our lives, democratize care work, and guarantee the fulfillment of women's cultural rights, which allow them to define their own identity.

In response to the wave of various forms of violence that we women face, especially in our neighborhoods located in the Miguel Hidalgo borough of Mexico City, we present this cultural project with the aim of offering a series of cultural activities for women that allow us to sow community development actions and that give them the tools to intervene in their contexts, recognizing themselves as creators, holders of knowledge, heirs of ancestral wisdom, and leaders of their neighborhoods, through art and Feminist Popular Education.
